About the Image and Cult of Buddha Maitreya in the Culture of Kalmyks
Abstract
The article is devoted to studying of an image and a cult of Buddha Maytreya in the culture of Kalmyks, also to the analysis of the unique icon «Buddha Maytreya» from National Museum of Republic of Kalmykia. The author analyzes the multifigured composition of an icon and its art style and comes to a conclusion that the studied monument of the fi ne arts of Kalmyks, possibly, is created by several artists in full accordance with canons of Buddhist art.
