Taskeshu Caravan-serai as a Source for the Study of Medieval Caravan Routes to the Steppes of Eurasia
Abstract
The article deals with the preliminary results of archaeological research of Taskeshu caravanserai built in the 14th century to service transcontinental caravan routes connecting the East and West Eurasia in the Middle Ages. Caravanserais provided a relatively comfortable journey merchants and brought a stable income as taxes to the treasury of the Golden Horde khans.
